One of the problems in the initial phases of starting a business from home is the necessity to constantly carry out activities that, for most of us, are tedious and repetitive. This is a difficulty that I commonly run into with my internet marketing coaching clients.
So, here are 5 ways to help make these first days not so tedious:
1. Be aware of Why You’re Doing It
If you understand exactly what you would like to accomplish from owning your own business, vs a job, you can remind yourself of your reasons whenever the work gets tough. The more precise you are the better. Do not just declare I want to make money. Clarify exactly how much you plan to produce on an twelve-monthly basis and then spend some time considering the reason you picked that particular amount.
Pay distinct attention to what you’re wanting to establish in the future which you could do/have in some way today. Then do not delay. Do it today.
2. Do not Carry on Giving Yourself Negative Communication
Do not carry on telling yourself how “tedious” it is – or whatever your actual moan is. Don’t speak about it, either to other folks or inside your head. Simply take care of it.
The human brain is a magnificent bio computer. It feeds us energy when we send it anything inspiring and it slows us down when we send it something negative or downbeat.
The essential bit to appreciate is that we’re the ones who are conveying the ideas to the computer. Life itself does not feed the brain anything at all. Only we do, by how we explain to ourselves what life offers and the tale we tell ourselves about it. For instance we could say “These tasks are dull and monotonous and I don’t want to get on with them” or we could say ”This process is a needed stage along the track that’s taking me closer to what I want and it won’t be like this forever”. Each are interpretations and tales. BUT, one sends energy and enthusiasm and the other frustration and weariness. Achieving a success mindset is one of the most valuable internal motivation techniques you can learn.
3. Break Up Your Work Into Easily managed Chunks
Don’t work on any one activity for more than three quarters of an hour. And divide up the work with something that calls for you to move your body and get away from the computer.
4. Celebrate Your Success
Instead of focussing on what still remains to be done make a record of what you have carried out. For instance, in my web marketing business, I have found it encouraging to put a chart on my wall that I colour in each time I write another piece of content. I also have one for amount of articles submitted to directories. Observing the numbers rise demonstrates to me that I’m achieving something, even though the anticipated outcomes of my work, in relation to unique visitor numbers, search engine rankings etc. have yet to be delivered, and this makes me remain motivated.
5. Take on Something Different
Whilst your day to day work remains at the phase of dull and repetitive it is worth making the time to learn something new. This might or might not be related to work. However, DO NOT do this, until you’ve concluded your essential work tasks.
Research shows that the brain actually adds physical capacity (much like the way an exercised arm adds muscle) when you become skilled at something new. It does not just increase the info, it adds “learning strength” via dendrite development in the physical brain that can actually be measured.
If you take up a new foreign language, or a musical instrument, as an example, your brain actually grows cleverer and more skillful at fixing difficulties. So keep your brain in good physical shape by balancing out the tedium with something innovative and stimulating.
No matter what you decide to do, there is no avoiding the requirement to improve discipline and keep repeating the vital activities on a daily basis, if you choose to make a winner of your home-based business. Hopefully the five suggestions above will make your hard work a bit less difficult so, before you know it, you are able to outsource this stuff and spend greater time on the things which are most rewarding for you.
